About Neal Rockwell

I'm a Montreal-based multimedia journalist and filmmaker whose work spans video, photography, and print. Working with a full professional photo and video kit, including a drone for aerial imagery, I offer full video packages — from story development through shooting and editing — alongside industrial, commercial, and editorial photography, and documentary work specializing in visual investigations. I also provide multimedia production support for artists' fine art projects.

Apart from journalism and filmmaking, my experience includes story producing and research for documentary series and feature films: developing story arcs, writing shooting scripts, and conducting international research to find characters, experts, and locations. My work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, CBC, and the Toronto Star, among others. In 2026 I was selected for the Globe and Mail Photojournalism Summit, an annual gathering of Canada's leading photojournalists and editors. I am also a practicing visual artist.

My work often touches on issues impacting marginalized communities, reporting on housing security, food security, and environmental challenges.

I hold an MFA in Documentary Media from Toronto Metropolitan University, where I was nominated for the Governor General's Gold Medal, the university's highest award, and a BFA in Photography from Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

No two projects are alike — whatever the challenge, I’ll find the solution.
